Dear friends
We trust you are well.
The hunting season has officially started and we are truly blessed to be very busy. We have also had very good rain and the bush is looking excellent! In some areas the grass is as tall as the vehicle's roof!
Enjoy!
As most of you may know, Harloo and the surrounding areas went through 3 years of terrible drought. The drought started in 2015 and lasted until 2018 when we got some normal rainfall for the first time. This year we have already had some very good rain. Harloo has been in the Rouillard family since 1959 and according to Edmond he has never see the bush so green and thick as it is this year. Below is a picture to illustrate the height of the grass compared to a vehicle.
2. Hunting Reports
Dear friends... in the previous newsletter we asked a big favour of you and we want to ask once again to please write something about your experience with us at http://huntingreport.com/enter-hunting-report/ Marketing is a very costly expenditure and business is tough these days with all the political problems as well as the economy that has its ups and downs.
For those of you who have already posted a report we want to thank you. It is truly appreciated!
On the morning of 9 March 2019, while our game scouts were carrying out their normal patrols, they picked up the scent of a dead animal. After following the scent up with the wind they found a dead Nyala bull. The bull had a hole in his stomach and we guess that it had been fighting another bull over females and got stabbed in the stomach during the fight. If this is not sad enough... from a distance one could tell that this wasn’t your average bull when it came to horn length. Most trophy hunters would be very happy with a 27+ inch Nyala and if you get bigger than that you are very lucky. This bull measured 31 inches and is what we call a MONSTER!
It was really sad to see this bull dead but good to know that the genes are on Harloo and hopefully he got the chance to spread these while still alive. Pictures below of this amazing animal.
Harloo Safaris always goes out of their way to accommodate junior hunters and we promote family hunts. We accommodate ladies that want to hunt and kids under 13 hunt for free. The kind of hunts where families come together are very special to us and we go the extra mile to make sure they have a good time! We have just had our first family from South Africa come to bow hunt for meat. The father sat with his 15 year old son in the blind to see if he can get his first animal with a bow and arrow. The father got a management warthog and the son harvested an Impala, his first animal ever with a bow!
