Newsletter by Edmond Rouillard (Outfitter) and Niel Uys (Manager):

Dear friends... We trust you are well.

We had a successful visit to the USA and it was great to see and talk to old friends again at the SCI National convention as well as at the house parties.

This year is going to be very difficult with the COVID-19 virus pandemic worldwide! This epidemic obviously has a huge impact on the hunting and tourism industry and we hope and pray that this international crisis comes to an end soon.

In this Newsletter:

  1. Coronavirus and Harloo
  2. Projects and Maintenance
  3. Just some pictures
  4. Great deals on hunts

Enjoy!

Yours Sincerely
Harloo Safaris

1. Coronavirus and Harloo

We would like to inform you on what is going on in our area regarding the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic.

At the moment the South African government is taking all the precautionary measures they can to prevent the virus from spreading to alleviate the anticipated strain on the healthcare system. From March 27 the whole country is in lock down for 21 days. So far as of the writing of this newsletter we are standing on 1 655 cases of which 95 are recovered and 11 deaths. Luckily for us, no infected persons yet close to home (Harloo).

We hope and pray that this pandemic will end soon and our hearts and prayers are going out to those people who are affected by this disease in any way.

Although our business is greatly affected with this pandemic we hope that everything will go back to normal soon and that we can continue hunting later this year. For those of you who booked with us this year... We will honour all hunts and deposits and work with you to get alternative dates for your planned safaris. Let’s not make hasty decisions now, let’s see what happens in the short term and let’s stay in touch.

To all our friends out there, take care and look after yourselves! We are thinking of you and your families in these times.

2. Projects and Maintenance

We have extended the deck at the camp and it makes a huge difference. Much more space around the camp fire and swimming pool

A bird blind was built at the new dam that you read about in the previous newsletter. This blind will give birders the opportunity to get up close to different kinds of birds at the dam

The two new bow hunting blinds are complete

3. Just Some Pics

Some deep sea fishing at Sodwana Bay, about 2 hours’ drive from camp

Below is Niel Uys (myself) with a barracuda.

My daughter with her first barracuda.

Catching Tilapia (Bream) on Lake Jozini. This was great fun with my kids .

Testing the new pit blinds to get some meat for the butchery.
