Dear friends
We trust you are well.
Our season has kicked off with a bang and some very nice trophies have been harvested so far as well as some very interesting sightings while on safari. We have also opened up our brand new venison butchery here on Harloo.
Enjoy!
As you all know seeing leopard during the day is not something that happens very often. A sight like this is very special and happens maybe once a year. About three weeks ago we were very fortunate to see a huge female leopard while we were hunting from the vehicle. The leopard was very accommodating and gave us some time to film her while we were looking at this amazing sight.
Please see the video below of the leopard.
Edmond has always had a vision of opening up a butchery at Harloo. The reason for this was to add an extra service to our local meat hunters by processing the meat of the animals they hunted with us. Another reason is to utilise our own game meat and provide quality meat for our guests so that they can eat what they shoot.
We started with this project on 1 February 2019 and have finally finished on 25 April.
It seems like rhino poaching remains a huge problem in Africa. In 2018 a total of 142 rhinos were poached in Kwa-Zulu Natal alone. From January 2019 up until the end of April 2019 a total of 42 rhinos were poached of which were 1 black and 40 white rhinos. The future does not look very good for the Rhino population.
